Kfm understands that the incident occurred when the woman, accompanied by her small Jack Russell terrier, encountered a man walking three large Alsatian-type dogs.
A woman sustained a serious arm injury after allegedly being attacked by a dog while in Leixlip near the water treatment plant on Saturday, May 10th.
Kfm understands that the incident occurred when the woman, accompanied by her small Jack Russell terrier, encountered a man walking three large Alsatian-type dogs.
Although the dogs were on leads, none were muzzled.
In an effort to protect her Jack Russell, the woman picked up her dog.
One of the larger dogs reportedly jumped up and bit her on the arm.
The dogs are described as large breed, Alsatian-type, and were all on leads at the time of the incident.
Kfm has contacted Gardai for comment but, according to a source, these incidents are generally dealt with by a dog warden.
There are just two dog wardens covering the entire county, with Kildare County Council telling Kfm recently that it has no immediate plans to increase its dog warden team.
The council said it will "review the position" if it receives any information from the Department of Rural and Community Development.
Cork, which has a slightly larger population than Kildare, has five full time dog wardens.
