Woman Arrested In Connection With Charity Fraud In Kildare

File image: Rolling News

Gardaí are warning people to be extra vigilant

Gardaí are warning of house to house "collections" from people claiming to be working for charities.

A woman was operating in the Celbridge area calling to houses, claiming to be from a charity and requesting money.

She has since been arrested by Leixlip Gardaí and charged with a number of offences.

Speaking on Kfm's Crimewatch slot, Garda Audrey Sheridan advised people to always ask for a permit when collectors call.

“People collecting should have a permit granted by the Garda superintendent and people should ask for it.

"People that are genuine charity workers will not mind being asked," she added.
