Two Kildare-based animal welfare charities have been awarded a combined €170,000 as part of €6.4 million in State funding announced for organisations nationwide.
Kildare & West Wicklow SPCA has received €80,000, while Moyvalley-based My Lovely Horse Animal Rescue has been allocated €90,000 under the Animal Welfare Grants Programme.
In 2024, My Lovely Horse Rescue received €54,000 from the Department of Agriculture.

In total, €6,434,803 has been awarded to 94 charities across the country - the highest allocation ever made under the scheme - supporting groups involved in rehoming animals, promoting responsible ownership and preventing animal welfare issues.
Kildare South TD and Agriculture Minister Martin Heydon said the funding provided this year continues to reward those organisations that have a proven track record in rehoming, providing education to the public on animal welfare, and guidance to prevent welfare problems in the future.
