Two In Five Kildare Workers Failed To Use All Of Their Annual Leave Last Year

Two in five workers (37%) in Kildare failed to use all of their annual leave in 2024, according to a new report by FRS Recruitment.

This figure is higher than the national average of 35% workers not using their full holiday entitlements.

Meanwhile, 68% of Kildare workers said that they would be in favour of their employers introducing at four-day work week and 50% would like to unlimited annual leave.

Nationally, almost one in four people (23%) failed to take five days of annual leave or more last year.

The survey of almost 2,000 Irish workers found that men were more likely not to use all of their annual leave entitlements.

Just over 40% of male respondents admitted they had unused holidays last year, compared to less than a third (31%) of female respondents.

Of the male respondents who said they did not used all their holidays last year, almost two-thirds (64%) admitted five or more days went unused.

For one in ten people (11%), the longest period of annual leave they took was less than a week, while 38% stated their longest break was two weeks.

Less than a third (30%) of respondents said the longest period of annual leave they took was one week, while 21% said they took more than two weeks annual leave last year.
