A much-loved community shop in Leixlip is set to close its doors after more than five decades in business.
Tuthills Newsagents, which has served the town since 1971, announced it will cease trading on 19 September 2025.
The family-run store has been a fixture for generations, selling everything from newspapers and Lotto tickets to ice creams, snacks and gardening essentials.
In a statement, the Tuthill family described the decision as “not easy” and thanked the community for its loyalty and support.
They also paid tribute to long-serving manager Ann Corway, who worked at the Leixlip branch for 40 years before her death last year.
The owners confirmed that other Tuthills branches in Blanchardstown and Liffey Valley will remain open.
Fianna Fail councillor Bernard Caldwell said the closure is “sad news for Leixlip".
