Helping to teach English to those fleeing countries, including Ukraine
Third Age Ireland's 'Failte Isteach' is a community based programme in the 26 counties of the Republic of Ireland.
The programme began 18 years ago, becoming a national programme 14 years ago.
The programme's aim is to welcome migrants into the community by facilitating conversational English classes.
Tutors are trained specifically to deal with migrants arriving from war-torn countries.
As per Third Age's website the organisation is voluntary, "celebrating the third age in life when people may no longer be in paid employment, but can remain healthy, fulfilled and continue to contribute to society. The longer people are encouraged to remain in this life stage, the better for older people themselves, their families, communities and society as a whole."
