Thieves Strip Copper From Bord Na Móna Site In Overnight Heist, Resulting In €40K Worth Of Damage

The intruders targeted the facility's control panels, which operate key electric motors, and proceeded to extract copper wiring from the equipment.

A significant burglary at the Bord na Móna facility in Kilberry last week resulted in extensive damage and an estimated €40,000 in losses.

The incident occurred between midnight and 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24th.

According to Gardaí, a group of males was captured on CCTV footage breaking into the premises through a fire exit.

The intruders targeted the facility's control panels, which operate key electric motors, and proceeded to extract copper wiring from the equipment.

The damage to the control panels is described as extensive, severely impacting the infrastructure of the building.

The suspects were later seen leaving the scene in two vehicles.

Investigators are now seeking assistance from the public and are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the Kilberry area on the day of the incident.
