The main teaching unions have joined forces to call for urgent talks to end the strikes by school secretaries and caretakers.

Teachers' unions are urging the Education Minister and Public Expenditure Minister to enter meaningful negotiations with the Fórsa trade union 'as a matter of urgency'.

Yesterday we heard from Principal Dr. Sarah Fitzpatrick from Scoil Bhríde in Kilcullen, saying there is now no one available to meet parents dropping off children’s medication - and no caretaker to ensure floors are safe, raising the risk of slips and falls.

She told Kfm the school is “barely functioning.”

General Secretary of the TUI, Michael Gillespie, is calling on the Government to give their colleagues what they deserve:
