Sinn Fein Newbridge LEA Candidate Terri Thorpe worked to address the issue in recent days
A temporary water butt barrel has been installed in St Conleth's Graveyard in Newbridge, as an interim solution to address the lack of water supply there.
Sinn Fein LEA Candidate in Newbridge Terri Thorpe approached a local businessman to purchase the barrel, however it was provided to her free of charge, while locals in the area await a response from Uisce Eireann to address the lack of water supply.
Recently Kfm reported that Kildare County Council was "aware of the issues at the graveyard" and was "progressing a solution with Uisce Eireann".
Some people in the area have been carrying their own large bottles of water to and from their loved ones graves, while the toilets aren't working either.
Terri Thorpe described getting the water barrel into the graveyard as "rewarding" and is now calling on people to top it up from time to time, so that everyone can continue to use it temporarily.
