Temporary Restrictions Lifted At St Michael’s Cemetery In Athy Amid Anti-Social Fears

Kildare council emphasised that the cemetery was accessible to visitors at all times.

All access routes to St Michael’s Cemetery in Athy have been fully restored following a temporary restriction over the weekend.

The measure was put in place due to concerns about anti-social behaviour in the area.

On Friday, May 17th, the council decided to limit vehicular access to certain parts of the cemetery to times when the caretaker was present.

The decision aimed to address local concerns and ensure the safety and security of visitors and the cemetery grounds.

Despite the vehicular restrictions, the cemetery’s car park and pedestrian access remained open throughout this period.

Kildare council emphasised that the cemetery was accessible to visitors at all times, ensuring that individuals could visit and pay respects without interruption.
