Pathways to Work is intended to re-skill and upskill people who are long-term unemloyed.

The government's re-imagined JobBridge programme, Pathways to Work, has been labelled "ScamBridge" by a People Before Profit TD.

Pathways to Work is intended to " will help unemployed people get back into employment through intense activation, upskilling and reskilling opportunities, and engaging with employers."

A €1,000 training support grant is to be provided to job seekers to avail of short-term, accredited training programmes.

It amounts to €306 per week for the duration of their participation in the scheme.

However, employers who engage with the scheme do not contribute, financially, to the scheme, which means they are obtaining the work of the participant, for free.

Deputy Paul Murphy has also raised questions about the kind of internships available through Pathways to Work.

He joined Clem Ryan on Tuesday's edition of Kildare Today.
