The cost of housing's putting a million people across the country at risk of poverty, according to Social Justice Ireland.
A new report from the group says almost a fifth of the population's living below the poverty line when housing costs are factored in.
It also says a further 300,000 people were forced into poverty last year.
It says a one adult household earning under €273 euro a week, is below the poverty line.
The report found renters are at most impacted, with 44% at risk of poverty.
One quarter of children are living below the poverty line, after the mortgage is paid or rent.
