Site Investigation Works To Begin Ahead Of Major Water Mains Upgrade Between Newcastle And Celbridge

The works are expected to last 4 to 6 weeks

Uisce Éireann is set to begin site investigation works in the coming weeks as part of a major project to replace 5.2km of ageing water mains between Newcastle and Celbridge.

The investigations, expected to last 4 to 6 weeks, will help establish ground conditions ahead of construction, which is planned to begin in the third quarter of 2025.

This project forms part of Uisce Éireann’s national Leakage Reduction Programme and represents a significant investment to improve the water network in both areas. The upgrade aims to provide a more reliable supply, reduce leakage, and support the future growth of these communities.

Works will be carried out during the day, with a stop-go traffic system in place to ensure safety. Local and emergency access will be maintained at all times.

Nicola Butler, Programme Manager with Uisce Éireann, thanked residents for their cooperation:
“We understand this work may cause some inconvenience, and we appreciate the community’s patience. The long-term benefits of a more secure and efficient water supply will far outweigh any short-term disruption.”

The project will be delivered by GMC Utilities Group on behalf of Uisce Éireann.
