The 717 service currently stops in Athy, Kilcullen and Naas
JJ Kavanagh & Sons have announced changes to the 717 Clonmel to Dublin route, stating they will be "streamlining" the service by removing several stops across Kildare, Kilkenny, and Laois.
Despite many passengers in these areas relying on the service for travel to Dublin City and Dublin Airport, the company has decided to eliminate key stops in the three counties to improve the efficiency of the route.
The bus company claims that these changes will "enhance" the travel experience and "speed up" the journey for most passengers.
Starting Monday, April 7, the following stops in Kildare will no longer be serviced by the 717 route:
-
Naas, Co Kildare (Poplar Pharmacy, Post Office)
-
Kilcullen, Co Kildare (The Hideout)
-
Athy, Co Kildare (The Castle Inn/ Woodstock)
"While we understand that these changes may cause disruption for some, they will ultimately provide a faster, more reliable, and more efficient journey for the majority of our passengers,” said a spokesperson from JJ Kavanagh & Sons.
“We recognize the frustration these adjustments may cause, and we want to assure our passengers that this decision was made after a thorough review of service performance. We found that some stops had very low passenger numbers, making their continued operation unsustainable.”
JJ Kavanagh & Sons acknowledged that any service adjustments can be inconvenient and thanked passengers for their patience as they optimize their network to better serve the majority.
