The Health Minister says 'internal bickering' is bad for Fianna Fail.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin should quit as Fianna Fáil leader during the Dáil's summer break, according to one of the party's TDs.

Marc MacSharry's call comes after the party got less than 5 per cent in this week's Dublin Bay South by-election.

The Sligo-Leitrim TD says the parliamentary party should meet, in-person, over the next week to deal with the issue.

The Health Minister says he has full confidence in Micheal Martin as party leader, and believes 'internal bickering' is bad for Fianna Fail.

While Kildare North Fianna Fail TD James Lawless says Micheal Martin should step aside as party leader when his term as Taoiseach ends in 2022.

Newbridge man, John Downing, is Political Correspondent, Irish Independent.

He joined Clem Ryan on Monday's edition of Kildare Today.
