Alarms are available for older people in the Kildare area through the Senior Alert Scheme.
Anyone over the age of 65 is eligible for the alarms.
Larry Breen, Secetary, Naas District Community Alert commented: "We're a voluntary community base group.
"We secure grant aid for the cost of he alarm and the installation of the alarm.
"We can get the grant aid for the alarm within a matter of days.
"The alarm is usually installed within about a month," he said.
There is a small cost involved for the monitoring of the alarm, an annual maintenance fee.
People can get a wrist watch or a pendant and the button can be pressed in cases of emergency.
