The first incident took place at approximately 3:35 a.m. in the Trinity Crescent estate, where a vacant house was targeted.
Gardaí are investigating two separate incidents of arson that occurred in the Derrinturn area during the early hours of October 7, 2024.
Both attacks are believed to have involved petrol bombs and caused significant damage to properties, as well as injuries to several individuals.
The first incident took place at approximately 3:35 a.m. in the Trinity Crescent estate, where a vacant house was targeted.
A petrol bomb was allegedly thrown at the house, causing a fire that damaged the sitting room and led to smoke damage throughout the rest of the property.
No one was inside the house at the time.
Less than an hour later, at around 4:20 a.m., a second arson attack occurred in the Ashgrove estate.
In this case, the house was occupied, and it is believed that another petrol bomb was thrown through a front window.
The residents were awakened by a loud bang and discovered a fire in the sitting room.
All of the occupants managed to escape through an upstairs window, but several were taken to hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.
Gardaí in Carbury are appealing to the public for any information that could assist in their investigation.
They are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who may have dashcam footage or CCTV recordings from the area at the time of the incidents.
