“Psychotic and Cowardly”: Grieving Mother Condemns Son’s Killer After Kilcock Stabbing

Ryan Kearney, of Loughnamona Drive, Leixlip, is awaiting sentence for the manslaughter of Jeffrey Jackson – a 50-year-old cancer survivor.

The mother of a man who was stabbed to death in his partner’s home in Kilcock has described her son’s killer as “psychotic and cowardly.”

Ryan Kearney, of Loughnamona Drive, Leixlip, is awaiting sentence for the manslaughter of Jeffrey Jackson – a 50-year-old cancer survivor.

Ryan Kearney claimed he was acting in self-defence when he stabbed Jeffrey Jackson at his aunt’s apartment in Kilcock on the 8th of Feb last year.

The prosecution said the extent of his injuries, “from head to toe,” didn’t support his claim of self-defence.

Jeffrey Jackson had 17 knife wounds – 16 of which were stab wounds.

Two deep stab wounds to the chest proved fatal.

Both men were highly intoxicated and the jury heard the row developed over a bottle of vodka.

Mr Jackson was in a relationship with Kearney’s aunt, Breda; and men started fighting after she went out to get a replacement bottle.

Kearney was acquitted of murder, but a jury convicted him of manslaughter.

In her victim impact statement, which was read out today, Mr Jackson’s mother, Grace, said she hasn’t been able to sleep since her youngest son was killed.

She said she can feel his fear and pain as he struggled to survive.

Kearney will be sentenced on Thursday.
