Former Army Ranger Cathal Berry says a previously set 2028 deadline for completion of major upgrades to the Defence Forces must be brought forward.
The proposed timeline for a major revamp of the Defence Forces has been described as "insufficient".
It comes after Tánaiste Simon Harris last week outlined his intention to "aggressively" improve our military capabilities amid a worsening geopolitical situation.
He also confirmed yesterday the government is preparing legislation to change the Triple Lock system, to remove UN approval to send more than 12 peacekeepers overseas.
