The CEO of Home and Community Care Ireland (HCCI), Joseph Musgrave, has stated that Ireland is lagging behind when it comes to providing housing options for older adults.
He said efforts to create retirement villages with suitable homes and apartments for seniors are being hindered by gaps in policy and legislation.

He said Ireland is "in the Stone Age" when it comes to developing expertise in this area.
“Ireland is good at talking about building these options, the problem is there is no framework to actually build them," he said.
