Alternative water supplies will be made available in affected areas
Uisce Éireann is set to carry out "urgent and complex" repair works on a key water pipeline that supplies one-third of the Greater Dublin Area’s (GDA) drinking water.
The works, scheduled for the August Bank Holiday weekend, will focus on the vital pipeline connecting Ballymore Eustace Water Treatment Plant to the Saggart Reservoir.
Sections of the pipeline have been identified as being at risk of failure, with several leaks also requiring attention.
To facilitate the repairs, a planned water outage will affect customers in Kill, Arthurstown, Rathmore, Athgoe, and Tipperkevin from 10pm on Friday, 1 August, to 3am on Sunday, 3 August.
Alternative water supplies will be made available in affected areas.
Residents across other parts of Kildare may also experience low water pressure, discoloured water, or temporary outages.
Uisce Éireann is urging customers in Dublin, Kildare, and Wicklow to conserve water during the operation.
Stephen Burke, Regional Operations Manager at Uisce Éireann, highlighted the urgency of the works:
"This major pipeline can only be shut down for a maximum of 28 hours before storage levels drop too low, potentially causing widespread disruption. Our teams will be working around the clock to complete the repairs and safely restore supply."
He acknowledged the disruption to communities, adding: "We appreciate the patience and cooperation of local residents as we carry out these essential works."

Customers should bring their own containers and are advised to boil water from tankers before consumption as a precaution.
Following the repair works, some customers may notice cloudy water or experience internal airlocks.
