The Canoe Club is hosting the event on Saturday 19th March.
Kilcullen Canoe Club is hosting a Paddle 4 Ukraine fundraising event on Saturday March 19th.
Its aim is to paddle a collective total of 981 kilometres.
The same length of the Dnipro river that flows through Ukraine.
The event will run at the club from 8 am to 8pm, with participants completing laps of the river, with organised trips upriver and downriver.
The club, based in Kilcullen, is calling on kayakers across Ireland to participate, and for their friends and families to sponsor them via the Irish Red Cross idonate page.
Kayakers who can’t go to Kilcullen, can paddle wherever they want over the long weekend and message the club on Instagram or through Facebook to register their distances.
Those who can come to Kilcullen are invited to clock up their kilometres on the river Liffey.
There will also be ergometer machines available for those who don’t want to get on the water.
The club is asking the public to make donations online or to come to the club and support the raffle and the cake sale.
