Over 2,600 Motorists Caught Speeding During St Patrick's Bank Holiday Weekend

The Naas Roads policing unit also arrested a driver who tested positive for cocaine.

More than 200 people were arrested for drink or drug driving during the course of a Garda operation for the St. Patrick's Bank Holiday weekend.

The policing operation, which ran from Thursday until this morning, saw more than 2,600 drivers detected speeding.

More than 200 drivers were caught using their phones while behind the wheel, and 95 vehicles were seized from learner permit holders driving unaccompanied.

The Naas Roads policing unit also arrested a driver who tested positive for cocaine.

Two people died on Irish roads over the Bank Holiday weekend, and there were seven serious crashes.
