One Week After Storm, Hundreds Of Locals Still Without Power As Kilcullen Faces New Outage

Alan O'Reilly of Carlow Weather has written to the government about a lack of planning for extreme weather events.

One week on from Storm Eowyn and hundreds of locals are still without power.

Last night, over 500 locals in Kilcullen were hit by another power outage that is not expected to be restored until tomorrow night.

Meanwhile, the Department of Education is providing support to nine schools which suffered damage during Storm Eowyn.

Each of those remain open while repairs are carried out.

The Department is urging schools which had been closed as a result of the storm, to carry out safety checks on buildings, and check for fallen wires or other damage.

Alan O'Reilly of Carlow Weather has written to the government about a lack of planning for extreme weather events.

He says it's not the first time he's done so.
