Oireachtas Committee To Examine The Impact Of Bullying In Schools On Childrens' Mental Health.

A Kildare senator is vice-chair of the committee.

The Oireachtas Committee Education will today hear from students on the impact of bullying in schools.

Hugh Ahern, a 2nd Year Student, from the Patrician Academy, Mallow, County Cork will be the youngest witness to come before the Committee and was chosen as the voice of young people.

The body, of which Kildare Fianna Fáil Senator, Fiona O'Loughlin, is vice chair, will today hear from representatives of the Department of Education.

Over the previous weeks, the Committee has heard from students, School Management and patron Bodies, psychologists and psychotherapists, bodies that represent Primary and Secondary School Principals and Deputy Principals, and DCU’s National Anti Bullying Centre.

The meeting at 3:30 pm will be broadcast from Committee Room 4 of Leinster House.
