Consultation is open until the 10th January.

The National Transport Authority received over one thousand submissions during the consultation phase of a new scheme to improve public transport in the Leinster region.

The Draft Transport Strategy for the Greater Dublin Area, which includes Kildare, up to 2042 was published in November with the public encouraged to make submissions on the plan until January 10th.

Of the 1,020 submissions, some of the main issues identified with the scheme were in terms of the Cycle Network Plan, new rail stations and the Dart+ Project.

The NTA are set to appear before the Joint Committee on Transport and Communications this evening to discuss what improvements can be made to transport in the capital and beyond.

The Transport Strategy for the Greater Dublin Area 2016-2035 was adopted by the Government in 2016.

It has been an essential component, along with investment programmes in other sectors, for the development of the Greater Dublin Area, which cover Dublin, Meath, Kildare and Wicklow.
