“No Animals Allowed”: Rental Policies Are Forcing More People To Surrender Beloved Pets

Dogs Trust is calling on the Government to introduce legislation to stop landlords turning away tenants with dogs.

Less than one in ten rental properties currently listed on Daft.ie are pet friendly.

The charity says the volume of calls from dog owners looking to surrender their pets because of housing difficulties has jumped by 112 per cent since 2020.

Over one third of the population own dogs, according to a study by Ipsos.

Barbara Bent, director of Wexford SPCA, is condemning landlords that enforce a blanket ban on dog owners.
