Newbridge Cllr. Says More, And More Variety, Amenity Facilities Are Needed In The Town.

More, and more variety, amenity facilities are needed in Newbridge and its hinterland.

So says Independent Cllr., Fiona McLoughlin Healy, who says this "dire" need is exacerbated by the on-going construction of homes in the town.

She says there are "known needs" in the town, including a national competition level BMX park an alternative location to the Curragh Plains for scramblers and a space for Newbridge Volleyball Club.

In a motion, the councillor asked KCC to audit its lands to identify more locations for amenity use.

It says "Audits of council owned land have been carried previously and any land that is available and suitable for recreation and amenity, is being used."

Cllr. McLoughlin Healy visited Kenmare in the summer, and outlines how amenity and recreational lands there are used for a variety of activities.

Cllr. McLoughlin Healy joined Eoin Beatty on Thursday's edition of Kildare Today, on all of her motions before the September meeting of the Kildare/Newbridge Municipal District.
