New EU Regulation Says Phones Must Survive 45 Drops, Last 7 Years

The new Ecodesign Regulation means phones must hold at least 800 charges while keeping 80% battery capacity, survive at least 45 drops, and be repairable for up to 7 years.

All devices sold in Ireland and across the EU must have more durable batteries, better resistance to drops, and improved repair options.

The new Ecodesign Regulation means phones must hold at least 800 charges while keeping 80% battery capacity, survive at least 45 drops, and be repairable for up to 7 years.

Manufacturers will also have to supply spare parts within 5 to 10 working days.
