New Driving Testers To Be Allocated To Naas Test Centre.

Almost 5,000 people are on the waiting list there.

The RSA is to temporarily increase the number of driver testers at its centre in Naas.

There are 4,945 people awaiting tests there, which is among the top 5 longest waiting lists in Ireland.

At a national level a person applying today would be likely to wait on average of 25 weeks for a driving test.

The RSA is recruiting 40 additional testers across Ireland, in tandem with 36 approved for hire, or rehire.

They should be in place next month.

Kildare South Fine Gael TD, and Minister of State, Martin Heydon, says “County Kildare is one of the counties possibly facing the longest wait time for their test and this needs to be addressed. At a national level a person applying today would be likely to wait on average of 25 weeks for a driving test.

Minister Heydon adds “Young people in particular need to be able to take their driving test especially in rural areas and hopefully this ongoing recruitment of testers who are currently being trained to be deployed in June will alleviate the traffic jam of applicants waiting to take their driver test.”
