While the county has experienced an overall increase in new car registrations, there has been a decline in electric vehicle (EV) sales.
From January to June 2024, Kildare registered 3,440 new cars, up from 3,260 in the same period in 2023.
This represents a growth of 5.52%, bringing Kildare's share of the national market to 4.36%, slightly higher than the 4.2% share it held last year.
Kildare saw a drop in EV sales, with only 612 electric cars registered in the first half of 2024 compared to 807 in the same period of 2023.
