It will now be facilitiated at the Maynooth Town Football Club.
The football club has offered its on-site meeting room as a new base for the Men’s Shed.
In addition, efforts are in progress to obtain a workshop unit to be set up on the club’s grounds so the group can carry on with its practical projects and activities.
Cllr Angela Feeney (Lab) said it is "great news", while Cllr Donna Phelan (FF) said the new location means the members can "continue their important work, fostering friendship, inclusion, and wellbeing".
She said Kildare County Council could not directly accommodate the group as suitable zoned lands aren’t yet developed but, she said, the council is "committed to funding the new workshop and that’s something we’re now actively progressing.”
Meanwhile, a new study has highlighted how socialising could be the key to avoiding becoming frail in later years.
The landmark study details how regular social activities can boost older people's mental and physical resilience.
It's especially the case for men.
Professor Sheena Ramsay led the study and says even simple social activities can have a major impact.
