Nearly 80 Convicted Sex Offenders Have Failed To Alert Gardai Of Their Wherabouts In The Last Year.

They have also failed to advise gardai of their aliases.

76 convicted sex offenders have not notified Gardai of their whereabouts over the last 12 months.

People convicted of a sexual offence are required to notify gardaí of their home address, any names they use and if they plan to leave the country for more than a week.

Those found to have breached these requirements can face a maximum penalty of five years’ imprisonment or a fine of up to €10,000.

There are currently 1,708 people recorded at the Sex Offenders Management Intelligence

Those on the SOMI are required to advise gardai of their place of residence on 1 of every 7 days.
