National Children’s Hospital Faces 16th Missed Deadline As Officials Withhold Payments To BAM

Health authorities warn that the hospital’s late completion not only disrupts planning and funding, but also delays access to vital services for young patients.

The long-awaited National Children’s Hospital project looks set to miss another critical milestone, its sixteenth missed deadline in just five years.

Officials overseeing the development have responded by withholding payments to the main contractor, BAM, headquartered in Kill.

Health authorities warn that the hospital’s late completion not only disrupts planning and funding, but also delays access to vital services for young patients.

As debate intensifies over accountability and oversight, stakeholders are pressing for a firm and credible new timeline.

Just last month, the Health Minister said BAM will be held to account for delivering the new National Children’s Hospital on time.

Jennifer Carroll MacNeill criticised the way work is being carried out, saying it isn’t happening in a logical or sequential way.
