She said it was so believable, she actually went to the bank to transfer the money
A Naas woman has urged people to think twice before clicking on a text link, after she was left shaken by a scam message she received last week.
Speaking to Kfm, Marcella said the text purporting to be from her son, said he urgently needed her help to pay for his insurance.
The text said his original phone and computer system had been shut down and that was why he was contacting her on a different number.
Marcella went to the bank to transfer almost €1,000 euro to the bank account that had been provided in the text, before a member of staff at the bank intervened.
Marcella says she learned a lesson from her experience and has this message for listeners.
