Visiting is restricted on several wards, with only compassionate visits allowed in some cases.

Naas General Hospital is under severe pressure as demand for care surges.

The hospital says large numbers of patients, many with respiratory infections, are attending its Emergency Department - leading to long waits for admission.

Visiting is restricted on several wards, with only compassionate visits allowed in some cases.

Patients are urged to check HSE updates before attending.

Hospital management is asking people with non-emergency issues to use other services where possible, including local pharmacists, GPs, the Naas Injury Unit, or the KDOC out-of-hours service.

The hospital warns that patients with non-urgent issues face very long waits at the Emergency Department.

But anyone with serious or life-threatening symptoms - such as heart attack or stroke - should call 999 or 112 immediately.
