Monasterevin has been selected as a pilot town for a review of the Record of Protected Structures (RPS).
Following a competitive process, Kildare County Council has secured €21,000 in funding under the Heritage Stewardship Fund for a review of the Record of Protected Structures (RPS).
The scheme is a joint initiative between the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage and the Heritage Council. It aims to support and build the capacity of staff who play a key role in the heritage infrastructure of Ireland.

Architectural Conservation Officer with Kildare County Council Ruth Kidney commented: “We intend on reforming the RPS by categorising the condition of each building, formulating a plan to safeguard and sustainably reuse these buildings so that we can address some common challenges for prospective housing solutions within the community.”
Kildare County Council said sustainability, dereliction and housing demand are current issues at the forefront of our society.
