In a firm stance against unlawful fishing practices, Inland Fisheries Ireland (IFI) has achieved convictions against two individuals, levying a hefty €8,000 fine for their involvement in illegal netting.
Valiulis Dalius and Bloslanas Dzapbarovas, from Kilnamanagh, Dublin 24, faced legal repercussions for their actions, which included the unauthorised use of nets to exploit freshwater environments and the erection of barriers across water bodies.
The incident - which took place on May 27th, 2023, near Monasterevin along the Grand Canal - reached its judicial resolution at Portlaoise District Court on February 16th, 2024.
