Martin Heydon said that some army barracks will be used
Kildare South Minister Martin Heydon has not ruled out the use of the Curragh Military Barracks to house Ukrainian refugees.
"I don't know if the Curragh specifically will be used, I would expect some army barracks, army barracks have been talked about.
"Because some of them have dormitory style accommodation, and I know there's a place in Wicklow and other areas as well, that may become available.
"And also army barracks have hard stand areas that have been discussed, which would be suitable for modular buildings.
"So I think it's fair to say that there will be some army barracks used, as of now I don't specifically what army barracks will be use," he said.
Minister Heydon said areview is underway into the suitability of the two sites in Co. Kildare that have been identified as possible locations for modular homes.
Some 60 modular were proposed for Lakeside Park,Newbridge and Beechgrove, Rathangan.
Minister Martin Heydon said he was aware that the people in these areas need to know whether or not the modular homes would be going ahead, and that update would be given in due course.
As of now, no update on the proposed homes in Kildare has been issued.
