According to the Irish Times, Conor McGregor's plans for a massive new residence in Straffan, appear to be too ambitious for Kildare County Council. In May, McGregor applied to Kildare County Council for planning permission to demolish a 600-square-metere property he purchased from Albert Reynolds’s son, Albert Jr., in 2019, and replace it with an expansive 3,000-square-metre mansion. The plan includes six bedrooms, a sunken basement with car parking, a bar, a gym and games area, and two swimming pools—one indoor and one outdoor for those rare sunny days.
Last week, the local council's planners halted the project, informing McGregor that the design and scale of the proposed property did not align with the local development plan, especially considering its location in a “sensitive landscape character area of the river Liffey.”
This isn't a complete rejection, though. McGregor has been asked to provide a “comprehensive design statement” to justify the size of his proposed new home.
