Maynooth University's groundbreaking 'Ancient Woodlands Ireland' project has secured €1.2 million in funding from the Department of Agriculture.

Led by Dr. John Devaney, the project aims to create a comprehensive inventory of Ireland's ancient woodlands, identifying key sites for conservation and restoration.

With a multidisciplinary approach, including cutting-edge machine learning and analysis of ancient pollen and DNA, the project addresses crucial gaps in understanding these biodiverse and culturally significant habitats.
