Speaking about the frightening ordeal, she described the moment she confronted the criminals as "terrifying" and now acknowledges the potential danger of the situation.

A Maynooth mother has told Kfm that in hindsight she would not have approached the masked thieves who were stealing her family’s cars in the early hours of Wednesday morning at around 4am.

The incident saw Hanka Kubova, who had two young children in bed at the time, come face-to-face with intruders outside her home.

Speaking about the frightening ordeal, she described the moment she confronted the criminals as "terrifying" and now acknowledges the potential danger of the situation after she was pushed to the ground.

The masked individuals fled with two vehicles, leaving the family shaken but unharmed.

They entered her home while she was asleep.

They also tried to steal her electric car but could not disconnect it from the mains.

Ms Kubova said she was advised by Gardai to put something under her door handle, like a piece of furniture to stop would-be thieves from entering.

She was also told to leave her car keys upstairs.
