Maynooth Girl Wins €86k After Bus Shelter Accident Following Barbie Screening

The settlement includes €82,000 in general damages and €4,000 in special damages, recommended by the Injuries Resolution Board.

A 14-year-old girl has settled a High Court action for €86,000 after sustaining a forehead injury at Liffey Valley Shopping Centre.

Victoria Wisniewska, from Maynooth, was running to her friend’s mother’s car on a rainy evening when she struck the glass side of a bus shelter, according to her father, Wojciech Wisniewski.

The incident occurred on August 13, 2023, after Victoria had attended a screening of Barbie at the Shopping Centre.

She was treated in hospital, where her injury was cleaned and closed with glue and steri strips.

She now has a 5cm scar on her forehead, which may require revision surgery in the future.

Victoria sued Liffey Valley Management Ltd through her father, alleging poor visibility due to inadequate lighting.

The company, according to the Irish Times, denied the claims.

The settlement includes €82,000 in general damages and €4,000 in special damages, recommended by the Injuries Resolution Board.

Ms. Justice Nuala Jackson approved the settlement, describing the incident as upsetting for all involved.
