A man his 50's has been arrested.
A man in his 50s has been arrested after a man was shot in the Hazel Grove area of Tallaght in Dublin this afternoon.
The victim who is in his 30s was walking his dog at the time of the incident.
He is in a critical condition in Tallaght hospital, while it's understood his dog died at the scene.
The man was walking with his dog on rural lands in the Lugmore area at around 1pm when the incident occurred.
It's believed the victim sustained a gunshot wound to the head and was brought to Tallaght hospital
It's reported the man suffered serious head injuries during the shooting incident.
The incident happened in a rural locality on the Blessington Road area.
A large number of gardai and paramedics attended the scene.
Early indications are that this is not a gangland related shooting.
