Man Accused Of €90k Celbridge Store Raid Allegedly Posted About It Online Before Lanzarote Flight

A man has been accused of stealing more than €90,000 from a shop in Celbridge after threatening the manager with a hammer.

Stephen McMullen (27), of Rowlagh Gardens, Clondalkin, Dublin, allegedly forced the Costcutter manager to open safes during the raid on July 17th last, before later flying to Lanzarote.

He was charged with robbery and with producing a hammer at Costcutter, Castle Village, Celbridge, capable of causing serious injury.

Gardaí, according to the Irish Times, told Dublin District Court that some of the stolen money was later recovered at Mr McMullen's address, though about €63,000 remains missing.

They also said a Snapchat account on his phone posted videos about the cash shortly after the robbery.

The defence disputed any link between McMullen and the account, noting that no DNA or forensic evidence has yet tied him to the cash or weapon.

Judge John Brennan set bail at €3,500 with strict conditions, including a curfew and surrender of his passport.

McMullen was remanded in custody with consent to bail and granted legal aid.
