Jackie Giltrap, whose mother is a resident of Lucan Lodge, said the transfer trauma is visible in this situation
A protest was held in Lucan over the weekend in relation to the decision by the HSE to transfer residents of Lucan Lodge Nursing Home to alternative accommodation.
As covered by Kfm over the past number of months, Passage Healthcare ran into liquidation, in which the HSE took over and subsequently wrote to the families of residents that they would need to be transferred by Friday 26th July.
The HSE citied new safety concerns including Legionella and fire risks at Lucan Lodge, although residents say specific evidence has not been provided.
The decision has sparked outrage among families who have highlighted the trauma and decline in health among residents caused by the uncertainty.
As of Friday last, there were 17 residents still at the premises, and are waiting to see the reports by the HSE so that they can make the informed decision of relocating.
Speaking on this morning's Kildare Today programme, Jackie Giltrap, whose mother is a resident of Lucan Lodge, said the transfer trauma is visible in this situation, and that two residents have died unexpectedly during the transfer of residencies.
She stated that they will have to be forcibly removed from the premises, as they are not leaving until they get the reports from the HSE.
