Long-Awaited Fare Reductions For Kildare Commuters Set For April Rollout

The fare reductions are part of the National Transport Authority’s (NTA’s) National Fare Strategy.

After many false starts, fare reductions for commuters from Newbridge and Kildare Town are expected to be implemented before the end of April.

The fare reductions are part of the National Transport Authority’s (NTA’s) National Fare Strategy.

The strategy aims to replace the short hop zone with a new Dublin Commuter Zone that includes Newbridge and Kildare Town stations.

Prices will drop by 45% for Newbridge commuters and 37% for Kildare Town commuters when proposed Leap Card savings are implemented.

For example, a journey from Newbridge to Dublin Heuston, currently costing €10.85, will drop to €6.

Similarly, a single adult fare from Kildare Town, currently €11.95, will drop to €7.50, a 37% reduction.

Speaking on Kildare Today, Senator Fiona O' Loughlin said she sought clarity in the Seanad on whether or not April is still the date when commuters can expect reductions.
