Locals Still Offering Sympathy To Scam Ads On Facebook Claiming Shops Are Closing Down In Kildare

Fake ad doing the rounds on social media

In one of the latest posts, a shop called Walsh Kildare, claiming to be based in Kildare Town, shows a smashed shop window with a Garda car outside.

Scam ads targeting locals are still circulating on Facebook.

In one of the latest posts, a shop called Walsh Kildare, claiming to be based in Kildare Town, shows a smashed shop window with a Garda car outside.

It offers a fake 80% off sale.

Some locals have engaged with the post, expressing sympathy - but it's fake.

Kfm recently highlighted this issue, with locals being advised to report the fake advertisements whenever they pop up on their social media feed.

Some of the ads are AI generated.

These ads often link to third-party websites that appear to represent authentic Irish retailers, claiming to offer clearance sales or steep discounts.

A lot of the scams have no contact number and shoppers must contact them through an information page.

Some of the Facebook ads create a sense of urgency, telling shoppers that they are selling everything at a discounted rate because they are closing down.

You can read that story here.
