That's according to a local councillor, as anger mounts over reports that the HSE intends to sell off a building in Kilcullen that was meant to serve as a vital day centre for older residents or as a community building.
The building in question, Teach na nDaoine, was once a derelict dispensary.
It was rebuilt by local hands through fundraising, public grants, and council support.
Now, questions are being asked as to why the HSE plans to sell the building.
Cllr Tracey O Dwyer (FG) said locals are angry.
Speaking to Kfm, she said the HSE owns the building but Kildare County Council owns the land it is situated on.
To dispose of the land, Kildare county council would have to get councillor approval but O'Dwyer said she can not see any councillor signing off on a community building being "sold on the public market".
She said the "right thing to do" is for the HSE to transfer the building to the council for community use.
Kfm has contacted the HSE for comment.
