Local councillor in the Athy Municipal District Aoife Breslin is calling for more to be done in the Moat View estate in Kilmead.
Speaking on her recent motions from the Athy MD meeting on this morning's Kildare Today, Cllr Breslin has expressed her annoyance at the council in regards to the ongoing issues in the Kilmead estate.
Illegal encampment in the Moat View estate was the main issue raised, as four caravans and dog shelters have resided on the green area.
Armed gardaí have been called on a number of occassions, and Cllr Breslin revealed she was recently informed a member of the unit was injured when on call in the estate.
The issue of sulkies, bikes and scooters was also highlighted as problems in the estate.
One particular individual is also to be said camping there on the weekend, despite the possibility they have an abode somewhere else.
The Residents Association no longer exists in Moat View estate due to the behaviour of a small minority, according to Cllr Breslin, and she is calling on the new community worker, along with the housing and illegal camping section to get involved.
"It's not fair on the ordinary people" stated Cllr Breslin, and said on air that she is now begging Kildare County Council to take on these issues and "give Moat View back to the people of Moat View".
